Canada will admit 17,500 permanent residents through the Live-in Caregiver Program in 2014

In 2014, Canada will welcome 17,500 permanent residents through the Live-in Caregiver Program. This is the highest number of Live-in Caregiver admissions in a single year since the program opened in 1993.

The number of caregivers meeting the requirements and becoming eligible for permanent residency has been surpassing the planned level of admissions of the program; which is why Canada has decided to almost double the number of admissions this upcoming year.

Live-in Caregivers are eligible to apply for permanent residence in Canada after working for two years in a private household caring for children, elderly or disabled people.
