2009 Action Plan Welcomes Newcomers
Opposite the United Kingdom and Australia that are part of several countries that are considering excepting fewer immigrants, our Canadian minister of citizenship, immigration and multiculturalism, Jason Kenney has great plans to welcome between 240,000 and 265,000 new permanent residents.
On November 28, 2008, Minister Kenney announced that he is committed to his immigration program to balance Canadian’s economic, humanitarian and family reunification goals. He has proved his commitment by a statistic that shows Canada’s number of immigrants is among the highest this year compared to what they were over the past 15 years. Minister Kenney plans to include up to 156,600 immigrants in the economic category; 71,000 in the family category; and 37,400 in the humanitarian category.
The new system created to achieve these goals has noticeably improved. In respect to the Federal Skilled Worker Applicant Program, it will take less time to receive a decision. Instead of waiting a long and agonizing six year period the process will now take six to twelve months.
Immigration in Canada is expanding; this is a great time to start the process of immigration and BLG Immigration offer maximum results.
