Immigration in the News: Is CIC being biased toward economic-class immigrants?

Posted by Fabiola Arevalo - Bellissimo Law Group PC

Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) is in the process of seeking feedback from the public regarding Canada’s future immigration plans. There has been much debate regarding this consultation.

Some argue, the background material and the online survey created by CIC demonstrate a bias toward economic-class immigrants. To some, the questions are designed to elicit certain responses regarding economic immigrants while downplaying the importance of other categories of immigrants.

When an entire family is integrated into Canadian society, it is only then they feel that they are part of the country. It is in the opinion of some that Canada needs immigrants of all backgrounds and skills to build a permanent home and that the government has an important role in helping them do this successfully.

The CIC consultation will be ongoing until the end of August.

We are interested to hear what you think about the consultation and the argument that this survey is biased toward economic-class immigrants.
