Federal Skilled Trades Program Helping Fill Labour Shortages

Posted by admin - Bellissimo Law Group PC

With fewer and fewer young people today entering into trades, it’s creating somewhat of a shortage – one that Federal Employment Minister Jason Kenney says requires a significant influx of foreign tradesmen.  The new Federal Skilled Trades Program aims to help with that, offering permanent residency to applicants who possess the necessary skills to lessen the deficiency of trades such as electricians, welders and boilermakers.

This program can speed of the processing of an application considerably, allowing applicants to obtain permanent resident status in a matter of months rather than years.  It also encourages the country to appreciate the skills that foreigners bring in, and to put them to good use, so that both can benefit.
