Pilot Project to Reduce Immigration Backlog Extended Until the End of the Year

The Federal Court of Canada has extended a pilot project created to tackle immigration backlog in the court system until the end of the year. Created last June, the federal court says that the program has been underutilized by lawyers, and cite limited awareness of this option as the main reason for its lack of usage. The program was created to speed up the process in which immigration appeals can be heard. Mr. Mario Bellissimo, chair of the Canadian Bar Association’s national immigration section, has stated that the program has been brought to their attention, and efforts are being made to bring more recognition this possible recourse.
