June 18, 2014

The Canadian Government is preparing to launch Express Entry the new immigration system. The preparations for Express Entry are already underway as Citizenship and Immigration Minister Chris Alexander stated it is a “top priority” for his department. This program will launch January 1, 2015 and it will provide skilled immigrants the opportunity to lay permanent foundations in Canada while aiding to meet the country’s labour needs.

In preparation for the launch, the government began accepting applications under the federal skilled worker program on May 1, 2014. They have accepted 25,000 applications, and have doubled the number of professions in which skilled immigrants can apply.
