The Celebration of April Fool’s Day!
As March comes to an end, April Fool’s Day is upon us again! Each year, on April 1st, people plot harmless tricks on friends, family and neighbours! Despite the fact that this custom has become recognized worldwide, have you ever wondered why we celebrate it?
Although historical evidence remains quite ambiguous, most people believe that April Fools dates back to the late 1500s, in relation to a calendar error. When the Julian calendar was changed to the Gregorian calendar, the New Year was moved from April 1st to January 1st. Those who did not hear about the change, and kept following the old dates, were labelled as fools (hence the name)!
Now hundreds of years later, April fools has become a fun, universal tradition for all! So start brainstorming your friendly pranks, and enjoy the spirit of jokes and laughter!
