Canadian cities have so much to offer, aside from multicultural neighbourhoods, flavourful restaurants, and professional sports teams! From coast to coast, you will also find an abundance of culture and history, often displayed in several of the nation’s museums. So, when April showers threaten to rain on your outdoor plans, head over to a museum and see what’s in store –you may even learn a thing or two. Here are a few from East to the West:

Prince Edward Island: The Green Gables Heritage Place in Cavendish may sound familiar to you! Why? Because it’s the very same location that inspired L.M. Montgomery to write the beloved Anne of Green Gables.

Quebec: Just outside Ontario borders, in Gatineau, you will find the Canadian Museum of History. Current exhibits include “Vikings” and “Gold Rush!”.

Ontario: Founded in 2014, the Aga Khan is a stunner! Its architectural design alone  ( both indoors and out) is a reason to visit, but it also houses Islamic and Iranian art, along with important components Muslim culture.

Alberta: If you’re a fan of all things dinosaur related, then the Royal Tyrrell Museum of Palaeontology should be a top choice on your must-see list. It is located just outside of Calgary and in the fossil-rich area that has led to the discovery of several specimens!

British Columbia: If you’re around the West coast, check out the Vancouver Art Gallery which is home to several famous works of art including by the Group of Seven. Upcoming exhibits will feature Picasso and his muses, and will run from June 11 to October 2.

Nunavut: Nunatta Sunakkutaangit Museum located in Iqaluit has Inuit art on display, including sculptures and artefacts!

So with your map in tow, make sure you take a tour of these museums and see what our country has to offer!
