Express Entry at a Glance: Year-End Report
January 2016 marked the one-year point of the operation for the Express Entry (“EE”) intake program. Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (“IRCC”) recently released a report showing how the program has fared. The numerical data below is an extract taken from IRCC’s EE year-end report and is based on data up until January 3, 2016. Expect further posts with additional details and statistics in the near future.
EE Profiles
As of January 3, 2016, a total of 191,279 foreign nationals submitted EE profiles online. The breakdown of how many of these profiles were found eligible (active), pending, withdrawn or provided Invitation to Apply (“ITA”) is listed below:

Express Entry Pool
The Express Entry Candidate pool is constantly changing, with profiles entering and exiting the pool every day. As of January 2, 2016, the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) scores of the 60,042 eligible foreign nationals in the pool were distributed as per the table below. More than half of the candidates in the EE pool had CRS scores between 350 and 449.

Applications for Permanent Residence through EE
IRCC received 21,562 applications for permanent residence from candidates who were issued ITAs for permanent residence, representing a total of 37,424 individuals, including family members. After six months, the program had approved only 655 applications. As of January 3, 2016 however, a total of 14,058 were approved resulting in 13,241 visas and 9,739 admissions to Canada.
The top three provinces of destination were Alberta, Ontario, and British Columbia, together receiving over 91% of all applications.
