Free/cheap holiday activities to try in Toronto

Don’t have any plans for the holidays? Do not worry – we have you covered! Here is a list of activities to try this holiday season in Toronto that are free/cheap!

Harbourfront Centre – Block Party on Ice
Head down to the Harbourfront to participate in their “Block Party on Ice” on Saturday evenings in December. This activity is completely free if you own ice skates. If not, you can rent skates onsite!

Christie Pits Park
Christie Pits Park is known for its outdoor winter theatre, where you can grab a warm beverage and enjoy the show. This year they will be hosting the award-winning production, The Story – from December 11 to December 30, 2017. The Story – is a part of Soulpepper Theatre’s annual Family Festival. Admission is by donation.

Tobogganing
It looks like Toronto will have a lot of snow this holiday season, so why not grab your sled and head out to some of our parks to go tobogganing? Check out Christie Pits Park, Centennial Park or Trinity Bellwoods Park. This activity is completely free!

Evergreen Winter Village
Every weekend in December, Evergreen Brick Works will be transformed into a winter wonderland. Go with friends or family and keep warm by the campfire or participate in one of their winter-themed scavenger hunts. Local food trucks will be serving food and drinks as well. Admission is free!

Nathan Phillips Square – Public Skate Rink
Go skating at Nathan Phillips Square as it is open every day to the public. It is even open on Christmas day and New Year’s Eve! The rink is conveniently located near the Eaton’s Centre for a shopping escapade or to grab something to eat. Admission is free!

The Second City – Miracle on Mercer Street
The Second City is one of Toronto’s favourite places to go for a laugh. The Miracle on Mercer Street returns to the stage for the holidays and tickets are selling for just under $20.00!
