Canada Population Projections to 2031 Revealing!
An article published in yesterdays Toronto Star reveals shocking population projections made by Statistics Canada. In looking at the future up to the year 2031, Stats Can predicts that visible minorities in Canada will be on the rise from the current ratio of 1 in every 5 Canadians, to 1 in every 3 Canadians!
In terms of economic growth, the article mentions that “today’s immigrants and visible minorities are better educated than the native-born and also much younger- meaning more of them are in the working age group and driving our economy.”
This is good news all around, except that many immigrants experience a lower rate of pay than the average Canadian, even with a higher level of education. As well, as a group, immigrants suffer from a higher rate of unemployment. With the exception of Ontario, visible minorities make up a meagre number of senior positions.
