Canadian Bar Association National Immigration Conference a Huge Success
This year, the National Immigration Law Section celebrated its 30th anniversary at the beautiful Marriott Chateau Champlain in Montreal. We enjoyed a number of activities to commemorate this significant achievement including a special tribute to our Founding Members, a reception for our National Past Chairs, and sessions surrounding the 30th anniversary of the Charter of Rights and Freedoms with a record attendance of over four hundred attendees.
Today, the Annual CBA National Immigration Law Conference is Canada’s premiere conference on immigration law where lawyers, judges and public employees at the front-line of immigration practice and policy-making share their knowledge and experience. Marking the 30th anniversary, our program reflected on three decades of immigration law guided by the Charter, and featured speakers from the judiciary, senior practitioners, Department of Justice lawyers, tribunal members, and government representatives from CIC, CBSA, HRSDC and Quebec MICC. We also raised over $10,000.00 towards the creation of a Founders’ Award to be awarded annually to a young lawyer to facilitate attendance at our national conference.
