CBSA Confirms Removal of Teen
Canada Border Services Agency has confirmed that Daniel Garcia, the student whose imminent removal had recently made headlines, was deported to Mexico on Saturday morning.
Garcia was removed despite the public campaign waged by his classmates and other supporters to persuade officials to let him remain in Canada.
His application for a temporary stay was rejected because he is said to have shown a ‘complete disregard for Canada’s immigration laws” by having failed to appear for removal in April, disobeying conditions for his release and failing to report a change of address. In addition, CBSA officials are legislatively mandated to enforce a removal in such a case when all other avenues have been exhausted.
