An updated version of the popular citizenship study guide Discover Canada: the Rights and Responsibilities of Citizenship is now available. It contains strengthened content on common Canadian values and promotes a greater understanding of Canada’s history, values, symbol and institutions to immigrants and citizens alike.
The updated guide includes everything from the previous one and more. Changes include information for newcomers, recognition of gay and lesbian rights, addition of forced marriage among practices which are not tolerated, additions to the section on the War of 1812 and a revamped Modern Canada section.
Discover Canada is the official study guide for the citizenship test and additional questions will be added to the test over time to cover the new material in the guide. Applicants can study any copy of the study guide issued since November 12, 2009.
Discover Canada is the official study guide for the citizenship test. The test is used to assess whether or not citizenship applicants meet the knowledge of Canada requirement for citizenship meaning that the applicant can demonstrate an adequate knowledge of Canada, and the rights and responsibilities of citizenship.
