Good News for those in the Medical Profession:
An article published January 2, 2010 in the Toronto Star newspaper reported the high number of medical professionals we currently have in Canada who received their training and experience from abroad.
According to the Canadian Institute for Health Information, about a quarter (over 14,000) physicians were trained abroad. Along with physicians, foreign pharmacists have also been specifically selected for immigration to Canada.
Indeed, the list of 38 occupations for Federal Skilled Workers released on February 27. 2008 for faster processing includes the following categories in the medical profession: Specialist Physicians, General Practitioners and Family Physicians, Audiologists and Speech Language Pathologists, Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, Head Nurses and Supervisors, Registered Nurses, Medical Radiation Technologists, and Licensed Practical Nurses.
