]]> Along with the New Year come changes. One important change to be aware of is the price increase for processing citizenship applications. The new processing fee effective January 1st is $530, which is an increase from the former fee of $300 implemented in February of 2014. The reason being for this price increase, according to officials, is due to the fact that the government has introduced a more rigorous citizenship process in an attempt to eliminate backlog. Candidates with a successful citizenship application will also be required to pay an additional $100 for the right of citizenship fee in order to become Canadian citizens.
