Canada Day is the national day of Canada, also known as Canada’s birthday. Canada Day celebrates the anniversary of the July 1, 1867 enactment of the Constitution Act, which united the three separate colonies of Canada, Nova Scotia, and New Brunswick into a single Dominion within the British Empire, called Canada.

Canada Day is celebrated throughout Canada as it is a federal holiday. This year it falls on Sunday, July 1st, which means Monday, July 2nd is a holiday. There are many activities that will be taking place all over Toronto to help you and your friends or family celebrate!

Here is a list of Canada Day 2018 celebrations in Toronto:

1. Head to the Hockey Hall of Fame exhibit as Canada is celebrating 125 years of hockey! This exhibit will include the original Stanley Cup, a series of championship rings, and the last opportunity to see the bands of the 1953-54 and 63-64 Stanley cup champions. This exhibit is on all year long but as Canada’s national sport, the Hockey Hall of Fame is an excellent way to spend Canada’s birthday.

2. Nathan Phillips Square is always filled with exciting activities on Canada Day. Head over for some live performances, giveaways, and fireworks!

3. The Canada Day Bike Ride hosted by the Golden Horseshoe Biking Club has been a tradition for many years. For those who enjoy cycling, come join the ride as it starts at Yonge Street and circles around Toronto.

4. Ashbridge’s Bay is always an amazing place to catch a fantastic fireworks show with family and friends. Get there early as it tends to get quite packed on special occasions!

5. The Canada Day Boat Cruise organized by Jubilee Queen will take you on a cruise around the Toronto islands, where you can appreciate the beauty of Toronto from the water. This cruise includes lunch and musical entertainment.

Whichever activity you choose, we hope you have an amazing Canada Day and a super long weekend. Enjoy!
