Congratulations to Mario D. Bellissimo who was recently named one of Toronto’s Most Frequently Recommended Leading Practitioners for Immigration Law in the 2015 Canadian Legal Lexpert Directory.

Throughout the duration of 2014, Lexpert contacted respected immigration lawyers across Canada and asked for them to complete a questionnaire. The questionnaire consisted of a description of their practice as well as whom, in their opinion, they thought were the leading lawyers in the field.

The Canadian Legal Lexpert Directory is a guide to lawyers across Canada, which was first published in 1997.

Record Number of Visitor Visas Issued in 2012!

Nearly 1 million visitor visas have been issued in 2012, marking it a record number of approvals for Canada! The positive numbers are cited as a stream less effort to keep up with Canada’s growing economy and making it a top tourist destination for individuals from around the world.

“Welcoming more international travelers to Canada creates jobs and growth in our country,” – Minister of State for Small Business and Tourism Maxime Bernier commented on the increased number of approved Visas. The increase in visas has been up 40% since 2004, meaning Canada’s popularity continues to grow as a centre for tourism and reconnecting individuals and families from around the world.

Vancouver will host TED Conference!

The annual TED conference will be moved to Vancouver for 2014 and 2015! The TED conference’s stand for Technology, Entertainment, and Design and are an invitation into the minds of the world’s brightest and most influential thinkers. The move will help boost Vancouver’s reputation and invite many more international events to attract businesses and innovations within their city. Vancouver continues to be a prime destination attracting many immigrants and visitors to the island for settlement and for many events that take place every year.

TED conference’s began in 1990 and have seen the likes of talented and innovative people from across the world. We are looking forward to the speaker’s for Canada’s own TED next year!

Canada will need more than 70,000 workers by 2020

The Conference Board of Canada, a public policy research organization, reports that mining within Canada will support up to 70,000 jobs in the Northern regions by the year 2020. The report attests that the people within the region and the rest of Canada will only gain to prosper from the increased exports, as countries grow a demand for minerals globally.

The report outlines that the annual value of mining activity within this region will continue to grow to nearly double by 2020, and calls for increased government investment through government-private partnerships that will help build the North that is estimated to produce up to $8.5 billion towards our GDP.
