Two Alberta immigration programs frozen
A freeze on all applications through the Family Stream and U.S Visa Holder categories goes into effect in Alberta on Tuesday.
The programs were set up in 2008 when the economy was thriving and the government has made this decision in the face of the current sluggish economic landscape.
Although skills-based applications will still be accepted, Thomas Lukaszuk, Minister of Employment and Immigration, says the focus must be on Albertans and other Canadian’s who are searching for jobs at this time.
