Visa Requirements for Taiwanese Visitors Lifted
On November 22, 2010, Canada, Citizenship, Immigration, and Multiculturalism Minister Jason Kenney announced that travellers with ordinary Taiwan passports (issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Taiwan) do not need to obtain a Temporary Resident Visa to visit Canada anymore.
According to the current statistics, it is evident that there is a very high visitor visa approval rate for travellers from Taiwan. In addition, it is also proven that there are a low number of asylum claims from Taiwan nationals and a low number of immigration violations and removals from Canada.
Canada believes that this exemption will help benefit many aspects such as: Canadian trade, investment, culture, and the Canadian-Taiwanese community. Canada came to this decision through a number of assessments and based on established criteria.
