Women faces deportation for involvement in “criminal” youth group

23 year old Carla Campagna risks deportation because of her association with a Hispanic youth group called “The Almighty Latin King and Queen Nation”. Even though Campagna’s involvement with the organization primarily included baking goods and fundraising, and according to her she never obtained full membership in the group, her deportation hearing continues this Friday.

The organization in question consists of the “King” and “Queen” groups. The “Latin Queens” work “to reduce unplanned pregnancy and drug use, and many members have campaigned against abortion.” Similarly, in Spain and Ecuador, this organization is seen as bringing about positive social change and assisting the police force. However, in the United States, it has been linked to “drug running and murder.”
