How Can I Extend my Visitor Visa?

Posted by admin - Bellissimo Law Group PC

Visitor visas in Canada usually permit foreign visitors to live in Canada for up to six months at a time. However, you can apply to extend your stay at any time before your visa expires, although you should apply for the extension at least 30 days before your status expires [1]. To apply for a visitor visa extension, you must submit the application form (Application to Change Conditions, Extend my Stay or Remain in Canada as a Visitor or Temporary Resident Permit Holder), proof of payment, photocopy of your current visa, and photocopies of your passport pages, as well as other supporting documents as necessary to establish that you are financially supported in Canada.

After your status expires, you have 90 days to apply for restoration of status, or you must leave Canada.

In addition, per a temporary policy instituted during the COVID-era that has been extended two years (until 28 February 2025), visitors who receive a valid job offer are able to apply for work permits from inside Canada [2].
