This Week’s Success Story: Work Permit Success for Francophone

We were recently retained by a client who qualified for immigration under the Federal Skilled Worker (FSW) class. We prepared his Express Entry profile and, because his CRS score was high, he received an Invitation to Apply (ITA) immediately, on the next draw from the pool of applicants.  While we were preparing his eAPR/ full application to submit, our client received a job offer from a company in Ontario. Our client was from a French-speaking country, having also a high level of English knowledge (speaking and writing). He passed both the test for French (TEF) and the test for English (IELTS), scoring very high on both tests. As the Ontario company was looking for an individual with his set of skills and knowledge of French, they decided to extend a job offer to the applicant. Being a francophone working in Ontario (outside Quebec), the process of obtaining the work permit for the foreign worker exempts the company from obtaining a positive Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA), prior to submitting the work permit application.

The foreign worker hired us to prepare this application for his work permit (WP). As he was travelling, we advised him that he had two options – to apply for the work permit online or at the port of entry (POE) when he comes to Canada. The second option was feasible for him as he came from a visa-exempt country. He chose the second option.  We received a call from the happy client, as he was approved at the POE and his work permit was issued for a period of two years!  We shared in his happiness, as it is very rewarding to see your work bear fruits!
