Toronto itself is a beautiful, bustling city but when summer is over, it is reassuring to know that there are still options for a weekend getaway. There are numerous places to visit that are only a maximum 4-hour drive away from the city. These getaways will excite you for the cooler weather to come as you can admire the changing fall colours, warm up by the fire or go on a stunning hike with friends or family.

Below are some of the few trails you can enjoy this fall:

Prince Edward County: Located right on Lake Ontario, PEC is known for their Bed and Breakfasts, farm fresh eats and wineries.

Muskoka: Stay at a resort in Muskoka, such as Deerhurst, which offers golf, ATV riding and treetop trekking.

Algonquin Provincial Park: Go check out the different colours of the changing leaves, book a campsite, or a yurt which will provide more warmth than a tent.

The Hamilton Waterfalls: Take a day trip to Hamilton and discover the home to over 100 waterfalls.

Bruce Peninsula National Park: Make the trek up to Tobermory, where you will find Bruce Peninsula National Park, home to crystal clear blue water and many hiking trails along Lake Huron. Head to the famous Grotto, or take a boat ride to Flower Pot Island.

1000 Islands Cruise: Take the cruise through the Thousand Islands, as you will experience colourful trees and magnificent island homes.
