Home Care Worker Immigration Pilots Launching on 31 March 2025
We previously reported on Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada’s (IRCC) announcement of new caregiver pilot programs as the previous caregiver pilots were set to close in mid-June 2024.
IRCC has now announced that the new Home Care Worker Immigration pilots will open on 31 March 2025. There will be two streams:
- Workers in Canada; and
- Applicants not working in Canada.
Individuals interested in applying through the new Home Care Worker Immigration pilots will be eligible if they meet the following criteria:
- meet a minimum of level 4 based on the Canadian Language Benchmarks (CLB) by taking any of the approved language tests from the authorized testing agencies;
- have the equivalent of a Canadian high school diploma (or higher);
- have at least 6 months of recent and relevant work experience; and
- receive an offer for a full-time home care job.
Only applications for the Workers in Canada stream will be accepted when the pilots open, while the stream for applicants not working in Canada will open at a later date. IRCC notes that a limited number of spots would be available under the Applicants not working in Canada stream. Additional details are expected to be released in the coming weeks.
IRCC continues to process applications under the Home Child Care Provider and Home Support Worker Pilots received on or before 17 June 2024. Those who did not apply under the previous pilots may be eligible for the new Home Care Worker Immigration pilots.
