Latest Immigration Updates

This has been a very busy month with many days away from the office including several days in Ottawa for meetings on behalf of the Canadian Bar Association with our various stakeholders (Service Canada, Citizenship & Immigration Canada, Canada Border Services Agency, Department of Justice and Case Management) and have a few interesting items to report in a series of posts.  So here we go:

CIC will process 240-265,000 visas this year.  CIC made a case to increase the levels to Minister Kenney but he wanted to maintain current levels.  The numbers of applicants in the spousal/common law category has declined.  There is currently no backlogs and no policy change upcoming. There will also be no changes to the H&C; program.
