Mario Bellissimo Receives the Canadian Bar Association’s Award of Excellence
Recently, at the beautiful Canadian Museum of History in Gatineau, Quebec, Mario Bellissimo was presented with the Canadian Bar Association Immigration Law Section’s Award of Excellence. The award is the Section’s highest honour, recognising a career dedicated to advocacy, professional leadership, and shaping the development of Canadian immigration law.
During his acceptance speech, Mario reflected on the profound and often unseen impact of immigration law, emphasizing the importance of the profession in shaping lives and strengthening communities. He spoke on the responsibility of working in this field,
acknowledging both the life-changing outcomes it makes possible, and the dedication of the professionals who work tirelessly to advocate for fairness and justice. He also expressed optimism for the future of the profession, recognizing the continued commitment of advocates, public servants, academics, government counsel, adjudicators, and judges across Canada.
The presentation of the award was delivered by Zeynab Ziaie Moayyed, Kevin Zemp, Deanna Okun-Nachoff, and Kamaljit Lehal. They are all incredible advocates and colleagues, who gave a thoughtful and inspiring presentation of the Award of Excellence.
