Provincial Nominee Program – British Columbia

BUSINESS CATEGORY

The British Columbia Provincial Nominee Programs provides opportunities for business immigration in three different categories: Business Skills, Regional Business and Strategic Projects.

Basic Requirements:

  • Demonstrate that they have:
    • Business skills and successful business experience
    • sufficient personal funds to make the required investment
    • a viable business proposal
  • Own at least one third of the equity in the business.
  • Sign a Performance Agreement with the Province of British Columbia
  • Await nomination until after the terms of the Performance Agreement are met, during which time the applicant is eligible for a 2 year work permit and temporary status for family members. OR
  • Receive fast-track nomination by paying $125,000 CAD up front as a deposit which will be returned if the conditions are met or forfeited if the terms are not met within two years of landing. (NOT available to nominee candidates in the Strategic Projects category.)
ENTREPRENEUR CATEGORY
  • A personal net worth of at least $800,000 CAD
  • Make a personal investment of at least $400,000 CAD to establish or to purchase and expand an eligible BC business.
  • Create at least three new jobs in the business for Canadians or permanent residents.
REGIONAL ENTREPRENEUR CATEGORY
  • A personal net worth of at least $400,000 CAD
  • Make a personal investment of at least $200,000 CAD to establish or to purchase and expand an eligible BC business
  • Create at least one new job in the business for Canadians or permanent residents.
STRATEGIC PROJECTS CATEGORY
  • Make a minimum equity investment of $500,000 CAD
  • Create at least 3 new jobs for Canadians or permanent residents in BC for each foreign national nominated
  • Demonstrate that all nominees are qualified senior personnel
  • Intend to settle permanently in BC
REGIONAL BUSINESS SUCCESSION OPTION
  • Intend to purchase and manage an existing B.C. business located outside of the Vancouver and Abbotsford metropolitan areas
  • This category offers priority processing and includes reduced job creation requirements.
SKILLS IMMIGRATION

The British Columbia Provincial Nominee Programs provide opportunities for immigration for strategic occupations in four different categories:

  1. Skilled Workers,
  2. Designated Health Professionals,
  3. International Graduates and
  4. Entry –Level and Semi-Skilled Pilot Project.

Basic Requirements:

  • The employer has offered, and the nominee applicant has accepted permanent and full-time employment in an eligible occupation
  • The nominee applicant is qualified to do the job and has any license or certification required.
  • The wage offered is competitive with BC wage rates for the occupation
  • The nominee applicant’s occupation offers good long-term prospects
  • The employers has a history of good workplace and business practices, has been operating in BC for at least one year
  • The employment of a foreign worker will not adversely affect the settlement of a labour dispute, or the employment of anyone involved in any such dispute
